Mandala Assessment Research Instrument  (MARI)

Mandala art

Learn an assessment tool that quickly informs you and your clients about unconscious issues as well as personal strengths that will enhance the therapeutic work.

MARI & Drawn Mandala Training

The Mandala Assessment Research Instrument (MARI) is a holistic assessment instrument designed by art therapist Joan Kellogg to gain insights into a client’s current psychological, career, relational, and physical issues. Based on the work of Carl Jung, the MARI and the Drawn Mandala are innovative, creative, and expressive tools that offer an engaging way to work with clients in setting goals and reviewing progress. These tools have been used by mental health practitioners, personal and business coaches, art therapists, and music therapists since the 1970’s.

The MARI Intensive Course is offered as a 20 hour online live webinar and includes all assessment materials.

The course includes:

  • administration and interpretation of the assessment
  • clinical applications of the assessment tool
  • supervision of practice sessions
  • case studies
  • professional ethics

We are teachers through MARI Creative Resources. Successfully completing the course prepares participants to be MARI Practitioners.

In the MARI training you will learn and experience:

  • Using MARI to assess personal, career, relationship, health & spiritual issues
  • Significance of symbols & images typically encountered in Drawn Mandalas
  • Practice providing effective, ethical, and strength-based assessments
  • How to incorporate mandala work with individuals and groups

“As a psychologist I have spent years studying and using many different assessment tools. I have found the MARI test to be engaging, accurate and excellent with resistant clients, particularly adolescents. The MARI is outstanding in assessing the “here and now” and its Test-Retest capabilities add extra value. The MARI creates unique opportunities for insightful interactions with clients. I would recommend it as part of any therapist’s tool box.”
— W.W.B. / MARI Practitioner
